After 2 weeks, I can say I’m sufficiently happy with how my L’Oreal Extenso Rebonding in Tony and Jackey turned out.
The experience in the salon wasn’t exactly desirable but I give the results with my hair a thumbs up.
I actually got worried after the first few washings because my hair started to dry. It looked dry, felt dry and burnt. And when I run my fingers through my hair, my hair felt scratchy.
But after another week of washing, my hair is now silky, smooth and super straight. I guess I needed more time to wash out the chemicals.
When you have your hair rebonded, hairstylists will usually recommend hair products (usually conditioners) that you have to use every day so your hair won’t dry. They will also recommend that you take weekly hair treatments.
Unfortunately, these hair products are usually expensive (Tony and Jacky was offering me a hair therapy conditioner worth P2,800! No thanks!) and weekly hair treatments are equally painful on the pockets as well.
But you’re in luck because I’m going to share with you my little thrift secret for maintaining rebonded hair.
If you can’t afford to buy those special, expensive hair products for rebonded hair, or get weekly treatments, you can use any normal hot oil treatment that you can buy from your nearest department store.
Ta-da! Golden Fabulouz Cocomilk Hot Oil Cream Conditioner. You won’t go wrong with the name, haha! FABULOUZ!
I use this as my daily conditioner and I leave it on for around 10-15 minutes while in the shower, then rinse thoroughly after. You can buy it from Watsons for around P200. It’s usually buy one, take one! :) One tub can last you a month or two.
I like this specific hot oil treatment because it has the ingredient “Hydrolized Keratin Oil”.
Keratin is very important to our hair. It is actually a major protein component in hair, skin and teeth. When the layer of keratin in our hair breaks down, that’s when our hair becomes dry and damaged. The thicker the layer of keratin, the healthier the hair.
So if you’re going to look for a hot oil treatment, it would be best if you get the one with keratin additives and ingredient.
And after drying my hair, I use hair oil to make it shinier.
Bought also from Watsons for P170, buy one take one.
Use a pea sized amount on your palm. Rub your palms together, and run your hands through your hair to spread the oil. Don’t use too much or it’ll make your hair look oily and greasy! Best to concentrate on the middle part of your hair and on the tips. Avoid the spreading it on the roots.
I also try to wash my hair with a clarifying shampoo once a week to lessen product build up and prevent dull looking, weighed down hair.
And that’s how I maintain my rebonded hair, the frugal “cheapskate” way, all for P400 bucks! :)

Hi Ms Lia,
My hair rebonded last year April 2010 and now gusto kong magpakulay ng hair this end of November… my question is Ok lang po ba yun na magpakulay na ako? just incase ok lang po magpakulay ng hair puwede na po ba ako magpakeratin treatment next year sa February?
Thanks po. :D
Hi Ms Lia,
Hi Kathy,
I think it should be okay to have your hair colored by Nov since it’s more than 6 months na. I think you can have a keratin treatment along with your hair color already, but best to ask your trusted salon.
Hope this helps.
Thank you so much Ms Lia :D
Hello Ms. Lia,
Wow! Thanks for the reply. Now, I am confident enough to with my fly away hair. Dati kasi, I struggle with my hair and I’m so confused kung bakit nag fly away yung hair ko. Now, I know na. Thanks a lot.!
Hi Rocee, you’re welcome! :) Your hail will become straight once it gets past your shoulders :)
i suffered from hair fall since i had my semi-relaxed on Dec.2010. Is there a tendency that my hair might be loss?
Is it okay that by 2012, i should have hair rebond?
Hi Novie, 2 years should be okay :) I suggest changing your shampoo to a milder one to avoid hair fall when you get your hair chemically treated :) Or dilute your shampoo with water, or shampoo your hair every other day instead of every day :)
Hi Christine, pwede ka mag pa retouch ng rebond tho I don’t suggest it right now since it since you mentioned hair fall and dryness. Try mo mag pa treatment like hair spa or protein treatment. And try mo rin gumamit ng mga gentler shampoos that are organic :) Or shampoo your hair every other day instead of every day :)
Godbless you Ate Lia :))
I just had my hair rebonded in PI, and I’m now back in California. The heat is dry here. Should I shampoo and condition my hair every day? Before rebonding, I washed my hair every day since my scalp gets oily easily. How often do you shampoo your hair? My friend suggested I use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. I definitely can’t afford a spa treatment every week, so I will absolutely try looking for a keratin oil product to substitute that.
Hi Liz, I shampoo every other day :) Hm, I’m not sure what products are available to you in California so I can’t really help :(
hi..ask ko lang po kung yun hair mo po ay kulot or wavy lng bago ka po ng pa rebond?..thanks for the article..hope to
Hi. Nagparebond po kase ako nun june last yr. Or either nxt month? Panget po kase ng hair ko talaga. I hope magreply po kayo. Thanks

Please! :)) I Need your answer
Hi Princess, Yes, definitely, you can go swimming and dance in the rain, hehe. Just make sure you rinse your hair really well when you go swimming so that the chlorine will be rinsed off :) Have fun!
Hi Danielle, go ahead and have a rebond! :) It’s been more than 6 months since your last rebond so it should be okay :) If you can, try to invest in a good salon for better results :)
Thankyou miss lia:) but can i still use this hot oil treatment?because the hair is still a little bit okay?i think:D GodBless and thankyou for answering:”)
Hi Danielle, yes definitely! Try it, it really worked for me :) You can use it everyday :) But remember to use clarifying shampoo once a week to remove oil and product build up on your hair :)
Hi Ms. Lia! I just want to ask.. I just had my hair rebonded last friday. When can I use hot oil treatment for my hair? after a month or so?
Hi Ms. Lia!
I just want to ask if I can use Loreal products for my rebonded hair?
Is it ok to use Cream Silk Conditioner at the same time with Loreal Shampoo? Please do reply. Thanks.
hi miss lia! I want to ask kung kelangan i shampoo everyday yung buhok? or if not, mga 2-4 times a week lang po ba? and kelangan mag conditioner everyday? Please explain miss lia, I really need your help. Thanks!
Hi Maya, mas maganda if you only wash your hair every other day. But we can’t avoid washing it every day if you go out and then there’s the heat, sweat and pollution. If you shampoo everyday, try using organic shampoos para more gentle, or try diluting your regular shampoo in a plastic of water :) For conditioner, ok rin every day but use a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove product build up :) Hope this helps!
