I just have to say, I really enjoyed reviewing these Marshall Headphones. (I felt sad when they had to go back inside their boxes.)
Just when I thought I’ve reviewed enough speakers, earphones and headphones to last me a lifetime, here comes the Marshall Headphones surprising me just a little bit.
On to the review!
UN-BOXING THE MARSHALL MAJOR
Loving the earth-friendly, Muji-ish packaging.
Marshall Major Headphones retails for P4,650.00
One of the best looking headphones I’ve ever worn!
Close up of the white leathery goodness!
Signed by Dr. Jim Marshall OBE, ‘The Father of Loud’, the pioneer of guitar amplification and inventor of Marshall Amps.
Both Major and Minor come with a microphone and remote! You can actually use them with your mobile phones!
UN-BOXING THE MARSHALL MINOR
Again, loving the earth-friendly box.
Marshall Minor retails for P2,950.00
I enjoyed opening the Minor box. It was like opening a jewelry box. I half expected a HUGE diamond ring in its place, haha!
Close up! Really loving the gold trimmings. Reminds me of… jewelry, haha!
Both Major and Minor comes with a manual and neutral stereo plugs for your mobile phone. The Minor comes with extra EarClicks.
Pretty cable clip with shiny gold accents.
RANDOM THOUGHTS – Marshall Major
Initially I wasn’t so impressed with the sound quality of Marshall Major.
I tested it first with a random J-Pop song and I found the clarity so-so. But when I played a House/Trance track… BOOM! I was blown-away!
The bass of the Marshall Major is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
With regards to comfort, the cushions are super soft. I could listen to music with these headphones for hours!
RANDOM THOUGHTS – Marshall Minor
The Marshall Minor earphones is a fascinating little thing!
Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing bad about the Minor. I just found it a little… different from most earphones.
The ear pieces of the Marshall Minor boggled me a little bit. Unlike most earphones that you stick all the way inside your ear, the Marshall Minor earphones is worn by placing it on your ear. Using the tiny, tiny latch (EarClicks), the Minor simply hangs on your outer ear.
Seriously, it’s just hanging right there on your ear! It felt soooo weird wearing it. This is definitely NOT the earphone to use when you go running or working out at the gym as it could fly off when you shake your head. (But the good thing is, no painful ears after long use!)
I guess that’s one way of saying that this earphone is used ONLY for sitting down and simply savoring music.
When it comes to sound quality, there wasn’t any doubt – the quality is very, very good. Surprisingly, it delivered a full sound! (Thought it was going to sound airy.)
In my opinion, it is much better when it came to clarity compared to the Major, but the bass is at par (maybe a bit less, just a tiny bit!) with the Major.
GEEK GIRL’S VERDICT
If you’re looking for a Christmas gift for an audiophile, these Marshall headphones and earphones are a good gift idea!
A bit on the pricey side but I assure you, your significant other/friend/family will love you for it!

Wow! The White and Gold details gives it a retro yet super cool look! <3
You had me at “The bass of the Marshall Major is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G”
I’ve been curious about the Marshall Major for the longest time and have been
considering them as phones I can plug into my bass amp along with a player for those practice days and nights to avoid bothering the neighbors with noise. LOL!
You really had me with that one line. Haha!
Last time I saw them were in JB Music Outlets.
I guess my only gripe on them would be the fact that they’re on-ear types of headphones and not around-ear. Still, Marshall Headphones on a Marshall amp would be unquestionably awesome!
Those look pretty spiffy – me likey the gold accents. I don’t understand how the Minors should be worn, though. Show a pic! :P
I recently found the perfect earphones (Klipsch), and I so want to buy it. But this Marshall headphones look gorgeous!
Oh! I thought there’s going to be a contest that’s why you had to return them into their boxes. Hehehe. :P
The Marshall Minor really is gorgeous! I just love white and gold. <3
Gotta say, as an audiophile myself I’ve gone through many many sets of headphones and earphones, including BOSE, extremely expensive overpriced and worthless Ultimate Ears (which I strongly recommend to AVOID AT ALL COSTS), Sennheisers, JBLs (which have awesome sound quality and comfort, but are unfortunately made of easy to break plastic), and my current set of Skullcandy Roc Nation Aviators (which look amazing, sound fantastic, but don’t really do the best job of cancelling background noise), to name a few…
These will definitely be my next pair. Tried them out at a music store here in Japan and they have some serious power going. Sharp treble and heavy yet crisp bass (try tinkering with your equalizer Lia. They respond well to small adjustments, especially if you were using stock settings on your crApple product to play music. My Android pumped out music like a symphony from heaven.), and they cancel out background noise completely! (My wife was yelling for me to get off them so we could check out the furniture shop next door). Best part is that the price is more than reasonable for the quality. Glad you had a chance to review these Lia!
I use the minor fx for my morning run and gym workouts, it stays really good. The purpose for the earclick is for it to really stay on your ear. It sounds better than the white minors but a bit more pricey :)
