Last month, I was lucky to be one of the ‘real women’ featured in an article on Women’s Health Philippines.
The article was titled, “Triumph Over Adversity” and it was about how four women (myself included) overcame a devastating experience and lived to tell their tale.
As you might have guessed, I shared my story of three years ago when I was temporarily paralyzed and a tumor in my spinal cord was discovered three months before our wedding day.
The three other amazing women were:
- Karina Nicolas Hernandez, who was an organ donor. She donated her kidney to her brother
- Nell Belgado, a breast cancer survivor; and
- Myra Santiago, who survived experiencing a loved one’s death, her husband.
All of their stories are pretty inspiring. If you are in the same boat, or if you know someone who is, I recommend that you read the article so you can get tips and advice on how to get over these experiences.
(Unfortunately, you may have a hard time looking for a hard copy of the magazine since it’s already considered a back issue.

Some BTS shots taken by Artie, playing the role of the perfect stage husband, haha! ;)
Again, I just want to say thanks to May Martinez, Anna Felipe and all the team from Women’s Health Magazine! I am very honored to have been a part of this! :)
