Smart prepaid users who own LTE-enabled phones can finally enjoy what I’ve been enjoying for the past few months….
Fast, reliable LTE service of Smart!
(Ok, not exactly the promised 42Mbps, but this is waaay faster than my broadband at home.)
I find that Smart LTE is more reliable than Globe’s here in our area (Alabang-Paranaque-Las Pinas).
I can’t count the number of times the husband would request that I share hotspot with him because his Globe phone only has E or 3G signal.
And ever since I’ve gotten my Smart iPhone 5, I never, ever had to ask establishments for their WiFi passwords just so I can have mobile internet.
Anyway, here are the details for the Smart LTE service for prepaid:
- The LTE prepaid SIM Pack will cost P350. It comes with 7 days free unlimited internet
- Once your free 7-day LTE runs out, you can top up using three LTE data packages (send to 2200): LTE 50 valid for one day; LTE 299 valid for 7 days and LTE 995 valid for 30 days.
- LTE SIM Packs will be available in Smart stores on Sunday, April 21, 2013.
- LTE Plug-It Dongle or an LTE Pocket WiFi device will also be sold and will retail for P5,995 and P6,995 respectively.
Woohoo, “LTE for all!”
Ok, I’m a teensy-weensy bit scared that when a lot of people start using LTE, the service and network might get slower and congested.
But since the services of Smart uses of fiber optic cables rather than the legacy copper wiring, hopefully this won’t be a problem at all ;)
(Fun Fact – Copper wiring which uses electrical signals to transmit data. Fiber optic cables, on the other hand, uses light beams to send pulses of data from one point to another making the delivery of large amounts of data at the speed of light possible.)
Smart’s LTE service is also available on postpaid basis through Plans 1299, 1749, and 3500, which can also be enjoyed on an unlimited basis until June 30, 2013.
