I’ve been living in the south side of the Metro all my life.
My parent’s house is somewhere in Las Pinas.
After I got married, we moved to a new place also somewhere in Las Pinas, bordering Alabang.
I never considered moving to the city like Makati or Fort.
For one thing, my husband (and I, used to) work from home.
I just find city life too busy. I prefer the suburbs where it’s more laid-back. Where you can go to the mall in flip-flops and shorts, and no one would bat an eye.
My dream home is a homey bungalow (but with all the flooding happening, I don’t mind a 2nd floor…) with a big garden full of pets running around.
I don’t mind going to the city for dinners and night outs, but when it comes to home, the south life is for me.
However, living in the south does have its disadvantages.
- One – Most, if not all, events are done in the city. Hence, I barely attend events unless it’s an event that I really want or need to go to.
- And two, my biggest peeve – It ALWAYS takes forever for some stores and brand to come to the south.
Here’s a list of stores and brands I’ve been praying would come to the south already:
#1- Browhaus Manila
There is NO decent brow place here in south. If there is, please let me know where. I would settle for Brow Studio, but even that isn’t available in Southmall or anywhere near.
#2 – Makeup Brands – Makeup Forever, Benefit and Bobbi Brown
I have been praying really hard that Benefit would come to Rustan’s Alabang Town Center soon. I super love their products and am currently using their Hello Flawless foundations, both liquid and powder. I need to update my shade though since I think I became a shade lighter. Makeup Forever and Bobbi Brown, well just because.
It’s really funny because the only time I get access to these brands is when I go abroad even though they’re readily available here in the Philippines.
Thank god MAC and Shu Uemura have opened in Town Center. At least that’s a consolation.
#3 – Happy Lemon
It’s really unfair that there’s not a single Happy Lemon in the south! It’s really sad! There’s an abundance of Cha Time, Serenitea and Gong cha, but they don’t make Green Tea with Rocksalt and Cheese the same way as Happy Lemon does.
#4 – TWG Tea Salon and Boutique
I’m a sucker for tea time. I would love for a TWG to be easily available in the south. The first time I tried TWG was during our trip in Singapore last September.
#5 – Forever 21
I’m not a big Forever 21 fan but I wouldn’t mind being able to browse through their sale events every so often. I happen to like their accessories. Thank god UNIQLO has finally reached the south but I’m still bitter that it came to SM BF instead of SM Southmall, which is closer to our place.
And that’s my list! Hopefully I’ll be seeing them much closer to home in 2014.
I’m hearing some brands like H&M and Sephora are coming to the Philippines, too, but I won’t be surprised if it takes forever for them to reach the south. *sad face*
Are you a southie? Which stores or brands would you want to be available here in the south?
