Hello, hello, geeks.
It’s 2014, a brand new year!
How did you spend your New Years Eve? As usual, I spent mine quietly with my family and my husband’s family.
I spent most of my 2013 being at home.
Like literally stayed at home and only went out during the weekends for our weekly family dinner and lunches.
This 2014, I vow to get out more.
Attend events, travel, and just plain get out of the house to get some sunshine.
And I think the Universe agrees with me as I received a very surprising phone call last December 27, 2013.
Guy on the line: Hi, is this Ms. Lia Lopez?
Me: Uh, yes.
Guy on the line: Hi, this is (name) and I’m calling on behalf of BPI.
Me: Oh, okay. (By this time, I was groaning inwardly thinking that this was one of those spam calls about their promos and services.)
*drifting off and so not listening until…*
Guy on the line: … we’d like to inform you that you actually won a trip for 2 to Hong Kong!
Me: (Speechless) Uh, okay. (silence) Really??!
After a few more minutes of the call, I finally put down the phone, still slightly stunned.
I really couldn’t believe what happened. At the back of my mind, I was thinking that it was all a joke, a scam, if you must.
But the day after, I got this in my email, as promised by the guy I talked to over the phone.
I still couldn’t believe it and ended up googling “BPI Get Out More” promo.
Apparently, BPI had this Get Out More promo last year from August to November.
Every time you used their online banking system to pay your bills online, you get a raffle entry to the promo. I, apparently, won the December draw which had a Hong Kong trip for 2 at stake.
Wow! I can’t believe my luck! :)
I wasn’t even aware of the promo until I actually won it, haha!
I’m encouraging everyone to enrol their BPI accounts in BPI’s online banking system. Not only can you join (and maybe even win!) awesome promos like these, it can also make paying your bills very convenient.
No need to leave your house and no need to wait in long, long queues!
I pay ALL our bills online – electricity bills, phone and internet bills, credit card bills and more – and I’ve never regretted it.
(But then it also contributes to the reason why I barely leave the house, hehe)
If you’re worried about security issues, just make sure that you practice good security measures such as using strong passwords, never sharing your passwords with anyone, always updating your password, etc.
Aaaaah, I really can’t believe my luck!
This 2014 is off to a good start!
I hope everyone is having an awesome 2014.
Happy New Year, geeks!
