My fiance and I went around the mall yesterday before our yoga class. He had to go to Globe to pay his bill and have his plan downgraded since he’s been able to save a lot because of that SUPER DUO promo.
I, on the other hand, had to buy a birthday gift for my brother (Happy Birthday, Kuya!). We were on a tight schedule so the first store that I thought of going to was CD-R King, haha!
Seriously, there are so many nice and affordable geek finds there! I was planning on getting him an 8GB USB thumb drive and a card reader (since he always seem to be “borrowing” mine and never returns it). Bwahaha, talk about geek gifts!
I couldn’t decide so I crossed over to another store called Octagon. Probably one of my favorite computer stores as well. I’ve seen a lot of really cute computer accessories here from earphones, to mouses (mice?), to card readers and 4-port USB Hubs. And Octagon carries the brand Elecom, too! I love Elecom products! Most, if not all of their products are geek chic!
So anyway, I ended up getting my brother something else and I got myself a 4-Port USB Hub!
The 4-Port USB Hub that I got wasn’t exactly the cutest looking and best one around, but it was on sale and I figured that I needed one anyway, so might as well!
So I got this red 4-port USB Hub from NewMen. What I like about it is that it doesn’t have those long cables and it’s very compact. I just hate cables. And when you insert the hub into the USB, you can actually rotate the hub, so you can either have it standing vertically or lying down horizontally.
It works pretty well when I had my camera and my 8GB transcend thumb drive plugged in. But when I tried plugging in my WD Passport, it couldn’t be detected. I guess it doesn’t have enough power to read external HDs. Sad.
But atleast if I have to plug in multiple thumb drives and a card reader for transferring files, it’ll get the job done! And I don’t have to remove my mouse! The MacBook Pro only has 2 USB slots so I usually have to unplug my mouse every so often.
Where to buy: Octagon Computer Stores
Price: original price P450, sale price P350
P.S. Oh, CDR-King has a lot of really cute 4-Port USB Hubs as well and for a much cheaper price (around P200, if I’m not mistaken). I saw one in a shape of a duck. It was cute!
