As much as I love make up, I’m not a big fan of putting on make up (specifically foundation) on myself, contrary to what most people think. I don’t really put on foundation on a regular basis. For my daily look, I just use face powder, a blush tint, eyeliner and lip gloss. Very low maintenance.
But on a night out, or any special event, that’s a different story.
My skin is very sensitive and by the time I remove make up on my face, for sure, I’m already breaking out. And by the next day, I have pimples to take care of.
I guess you can say I’m still on the look out for my HG (Holy Grail) foundation. I’ve tried a number of products already, ranging from high end products (like Shu Uemura, MAC, Shiseido) to more affordable ones (like Maybelline, FaceShop, etc) and so far, still no go.
I’ve even tried the BB Mineral Cream of Maybelline hoping mineral make up might be a good fit for me since its supposed to be organic. I’m using the Maybelline Clear Smooth Face Powder and Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Powder Foundation (both in honey shade) as my daily face powder and luckily, I don’t break out when I use either.

But unfortunately, I broke out still with the Maybelline BB Mineral Cream. So much for that.
Moving on…
Last week, we went to the grocery and I saw the Myra-E Vita Glow Tinted Moisturizer. I’ve always wanted to try using a tinted moisturizer as a foundation replacement since I really don’t like the feeling of thick make up on my face. But the question is, which tinted moisturizer should I try?
Initially, I wanted to try the Olay Total Effects Touch of Foundation, but shelling out Php700.00+ is still a little too much for me, especially if I end up not using it anymore. I did try the Olay Moisturizing Lotion (Php 235.00) recently, and true enough, I did break out. Olay products are not for me!
So, anyway, back to the Myra-E Vita Glow. (Sorry, I tend to blab, haha)
I did end up buying it because it was only Php 165.00. I’m currently using Myra-E Facial Moisturizer as my daily moisturizer for almost a year now and thankfully, no break outs. So I’m hoping their tinted moisturizer would work for me, too.
What I liked:
1. Easy application. Just a pea-sized amount is good enough for my whole face and neck.
2. Good consistensy, easy to blend.
3. Feels light on the skin.
I wore it on my face for around 6 hours (night time) and miraculously, I felt no itch through the entire night and my face didn’t get oily (though I have dry skin naturally). I didn’t break out the next day either!
So did I finally find my HG Tinted Moisturizer?
Unfortunately, NO. Because of those freaking glitters!
Yep, you heard me right, Vita Glow has really tiny, microscopic glitters mixed into it. If only it didn’t have glitters it would have been perfect. I guess they wanted to take the “Glow” literally but it turned out to be a “dewey”-effect-FAIL in my opinion.
Will I use it again? Probably yes, on a night out but definitely not on a daily use. I do not want to be sparkling like Edward Cullen while on a simple errand like doing grocery or going to the bank. The whole time while I was wearing the tinted moisturizer, I kept on hoping no one would point out I had glitters on my face. The hubby noticed and I could only sigh exasperately then. *sigh*
Oh well, too bad. Search is still on!
