SleepyTi.Me: Bedtime Calculator for Quality Sleep

If there’s one thing I’m quite obsessed about (aside from trying to gain weight and trying to drink 8 glasses of water everyday), it’s trying to get quality sleep.

Most of the time, I have a hard time waking up. I usually wake up feeling pretty heavy and lethargic. But there are days when I wake up easily feeling refreshed.

I always wonder what is it I do that makes the difference in how I feel when I wake up. Is it something I ate? Is it the number of hours? Or is it my sleeping position? Is it my non-existent sleeping routine?

It could be one of those, who knows. Sometimes, I feel more refreshed when I get 5 hours of sleep compared to getting 8 hours. So really, who knows!

Interestingly, I came upon this website called SleepyTi.Me. (Thanks, Pandapan!) It’s a bedtime calculator that computes what time you should sleep and wake up.

You simply input the time you want to wake up.

It works with the concept of sleep cycles. To get quality sleep, you should sleep an ENTIRE, COMPLETE sleep cycle. Waking up in and disrupting the middle of a cycle will result in feeling tired and lethargic. But if you complete a sleep cycle, you will feel refreshed and energized.

A Sleep Cycle is typically 90 minutes. (I wonder if that means humans only need to sleep for an hour and 30 minutes a day? More internet hours for me!)

So last night, I decided I needed to wake up at 630AM.

And SleepyTi.me gave me the times I should be falling asleep.

Well, I did have an easier time waking up today. But I don’t know if that’s the placebo effect talking. I will have to test it out some more 🙂

Yay, for sleeping!
