Viddy: Hipstamatic meets Instagram for Videos

I’m a photo click-happy kind of girl, not a video trigger happy one.

So ever since I’ve gotten this 4th Gen iPod Touch for Christmas last year, I haven’t really take advantage of its video capabilities.

The 4th Gen iPod Touch has a video recording capabality in HD (720p) up to 30 frames per second with audio with its back camera.

Not bad. I should really use it more often.

And I just might, because I came across the most awesome FREE video editing app ever in the iTunes store.

While Viddy is not the first of its kind, I find it the easiest to use. It has a really nice intuitive, straight-forward and simple user interface. Definitely a plus for video editing newbies.

Recording videos with Viddy is as easy as pie. You can also use a video from your library.

Applying effects is as equally as easy. Each effect comes with a background music you can opt to use or not.

Like Instagram, it has its own social network where you can share your videos with other Viddy users.

Since Viddy is a fairly new app, there’s only so much you can do with it.

Cons:

  • The effects are very limited with only 7 kinds to choose from.
  • You can only record and edit videos that are 15 seconds in length. So if you recorded a longer video, it’ll be trimmed to 15 seconds.

But I have high hopes for this app! I’ll be excitedly waiting for the updates. I’m even more than happy to get a paid version if it’ll allow me to choose my own music, record longer videos and add text 🙂 Now that’s going to be awesome.

Here’s my sample video made with Viddy.
