I eternally have dry, cracking lips. (Blame it on my laziness to drink enough water daily)
My hubby finds it disturbing when I try to pull off dry skin from my lips using my teeth.
A disgusting habit, I know, but I like doing it just to irritate him, hehe.
But as much fun it is to annoy the hubby, it’s equally frustrating having dry lips all the time. For one thing, I could not wear lipstick. Wearing lipstick defines my cracked lips even more. (I’m fond of wearing dark plum lipstick for that emo look, hur hur hur!)
I am forever envious of people who can wear different shades of lipstick on their luscious lips. *sigh*
I, on the other hand, am stuck with plain ChapStick on normal days, and tinted lip gloss (which I have to reapply a gazillion times) on more festive occasions.
FORTUNATELY, I came across Skysenshi’s blog post on The Face Shop’s Plus+1 LipCare. She swears by how it is the only product that has ever provided her cracked lips with enough moisture to actually bring her lips back from dry wastelands.
It has 2 variants: Shea Butter and Vitamin. I got the Vitamin one.
Skysenshi is a fellow dry skin lip chewer and her own lip woes hit close to home. If the product worked for her, I was hoping it would work for me, too!
The first time I swiped the lip balm on my lips, I was disappointed. It didn’t moisturize my lips as much as I thought it would.
Recently though, I read this certain tip on how to keep your puckers moisturized: Lather lip balm on your lips before sleeping.
I had long stashed the Plus+1 LipCare cream in the bottom on my makeup kit along with other disappointing products, but it was the product that came to mind when I decided to follow the tip.
So lather I did, and off to sleep I went.
I normally wake up with lips so dry, I end up cracking my lips till they bleed when I yawn. But the next morning, I was happily surprised to have soft, moisturized lips!
Then it dawned on me: So THAT’s how you use a lip balm! 😛
The first time I tried the product, I swiped a thin layer of the balm and rub my lips together.
Apparently, to use a lip balm effectively, you need to apply a thick layer of the balm on your lips and let it settle on/get absorbed by your lips.
So now I’m pretty happy with The Face Shop’s Plus+1 LipCare Cream! It keeps my lips moisturized for a good 4-6 hours before I actually have to reapply 🙂
The more often I use the lip balm, the more improvement I notice on my dry lips 🙂
Not bad for a P200+ product. (Forgot the exact price, oops.)
