Beauty Geek Tip: My Secret Eye Makeup Remover

I have a love-hate relationship with make up.

I love make up because using make up makes me look pretty.

The hating starts though when I get home late from a night out, tired and sleepy, and I still have to wash out all the gunk on my face instead of just plopping on my bed to sleep.

The worst part comes when you have to remove eye makeup. Investing in a good mascara and eyeliner is great when you want your eye makeup to last the whole night. But removing them is so frustrating!

These were the days when I was a makeup artist-wanna-be after taking makeup lessons at La Salle College International 😛 I was experimenting with the smokey eye look on myself. The left eye was supposed to be a silvery smokey eye look (no eyeliner, haha!), while the right eye was a golden smokey eye look, hehe.

Eye make up like this is very annoying to remove! If you don’t wash your face well enough, you end up waking in the morning with a black eye. Literally.

So solution is, invest in an expensive eye makeup remover, too, right?

WRONG! You don’t need an expensive eye make up remover.

I have a secret eye make up remover and I guarantee you, it can remove your eye make up in seconds no matter how thick the eye makeup is and no matter how black the mascara and eyeliners are. It’s gentle AND very affordable, too!

Ta-da! My secret eye makeup remove is the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser!

I originally bought this cleanser because I needed a facial wash that won’t make my skin break out in rashes. I found it too gentle though (I like my facial washes soapy and suddy) so I ended up with another brand of facial wash.

Instead of throwing it out, however, I found out that it was pretty effective in removing eye makeup.

How to use Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser as eye make up remover:
1. Squeeze a pea-sized amount on your finger.

2. Spread the cleanser on your eyelid.
3. Massage the cleanser gently on your eyelid and let it stay on for 20-30 seconds.
4. Wipe your eyelid gently with a cotton ball. Viola!

I’ve been using the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser as an eye make up remover for years now and it has never failed me! 🙂

Try it and let me know if it works for you.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is available in most department stores and supermarkets for a very affordable price of around P70.

  1. Using Cetaphil too, but will try leaving it on longer for easier eye makeup removal. Thanks for the tip!

  2. olive oil is also a good product to remove eye make-up.

  3. I use the Maybelline eye make up remover actually and found that it works perfectly fine. So far, that is. ^^;;

This is a bit off-topic but for a make up newbie like me, what’s a good eyeliner? It’s been hot and humid in Manila and Etude House’s Proof 10 has smudged for me one time I was at the office. So medyo hassle. ~_~ I am using it kasi pencil form and I am really such a newbie. I heard gel eyeliners are better daw pero I don’t know enough about make up.
