Honestly, I’m not a big fan of lipsticks. For one thing, my lips are always dry.
And if dry, cracked lips are not the problem, lipsticks never seem to last that long on me and I always end up licking or eating them off.
Oh, and did I mention, I’m too lazy to retouch makeup when I go out? Hehe.
But this year, I decided to be a little less lazy more adventurous with my makeup by playing around with lipsticks. (Plus, I got envious with all the beauty bloggers and their luscious, colorful lips).
I initially heard of the Revlon Lip Butter from Jen of From Head to Toe, and then my friend, Cez, started lusting after it on Twitter.
A month after, Revlon Lip Butter arrives in Manila and all the beauty bloggers are raving about it.
The next thing you know, I find myself buying 2 tubes of the Revlon Lip Butter! (well, actually I made the hubby buy me the Lip Butters when he was in SM Makati while I was stuck at home, haha!)
After thinking about it really well (I spent a WHOLE night reading reviews about the shades!), I decided to get the Lip Butters in shades of Peach Parfait and Raspberry Pie. Peach Parfait is considered as one of the best sellers. I chose Raspberry Pie since I’m very fond of plum-based shades.

Cute packaging, though taking the cap of can be a little hard.

Peach Parfait swipes on very sheer, with a little bit of sparkle. Raspberry Pie is a very vibrant and opaque color.

Wearing Peach Parfait. The shade is very close to my natural lip color.

I loooove Raspberry Pie!
Random Thoughts about the Revlon Lip Butters
1. I’m totally loving Raspberry Pie. I LOVE how it delivers the perfect ‘oomph’ to my simple makeup look of eyeliner, blush and foundation.
2. I was a bit disappointed with the Peach Parfait. I found the shade ‘boring’. But if you’re looking for a lipstick shade for that everyday, natural, peachy-pink look, Peach Parfait is perfect. I was just really looking for something more dramatic.
3. I wasn’t too impressed with the ‘moisturizing effects’ everyone was raving about. (My point of comparison is my Sugar Lip Treatment which I bought from Sephora Singapore.) My lips still dried up and cracked after an hour or so, and I needed to use my Plus+1 LipCare Cream from The Face Shop.
4. The Revlon Lip Butters in Manila are SUPER overpriced! With a price of P525 per tube, that’s twice the price if you get it from the US! (You can get the Lip Butters for around $7-$8 in Walmart)
Will I buy this product again? Hmm, probably because I love the selection of shades, but only if I have relatives coming home from the US so I can get them at a cheaper price. 🙂
Oh and by the way, for luscious lips, don’t forget to exfoliate! I find that exfoliating before putting on lip moisturizer and lip color helps the color stay longer and lessens the cracking.
For exfoliating my lips, I use this toothbrush.

The rubberized back of the head is supposed to be for brushing the tongue and cheeks, but it really works well as a lip exfoliator, too!
