New Year, New Hair 2013: My Ombre Hair Experience at Azta Urban Salon

I always make it a point to meet the new year with a new hairdo, be it with a simple trim, hair cut or colour. There’s just something about cutting your hair off, or getting a new look that makes you fee like you’re having a fresh start.

For 2013, I decided to go with a bolder and playful look: the Ombre Hair.

In fashion, Ombre means the gradiation of one colour to another in a garment.

The Ombre hair trend started early last year if I’m not mistaken and ever since I’ve seen photos of celebrities sporting this look, I’ve been wanting to get one myself!

The problem was, I wasn’t sure WHERE to get it done here in Manila. Since Ombre looks like a complicated process, I wanted to make sure I’d get it done at a reputable salon who’s had experience in Ombre hair.

Thanks to the internet, I managed to find one particular salon which actually offered Ombre services in their usual menu: Azta Urban Salon.

Luckily, Azta Urban Salon has a branch in Alabang Town Center! It’s a sign! If the salon wasn’t in the south area, I probably wouldn’t have gone, haha. (I’m a lazy southerner!)

With an appointment made, I excitedly trooped over to Azta Urban Salon, ATC branch for my Ombre hair last  Friday, December 28.

Woohoo, excited for my Ombre! Hair shampooed and ready to go!

My stylist was Echo and he recommended that I get a two-tone Ombre, meaning my hair would be dyed with a base colour, and another colour would be used for the tips. Some people just opt for changing the colour of their tips and leaving the remaining part of their hair with their natural colour.

I happily agreed and after showing me a few swatches of hair, we decided to go with a reddish brown base and golden brown tips.

I thought that was just perfect since I’ve been torn for quite some time between colouring my hair red or sticking with my usual golden brown shade.

Now with ombre, I got the best of both worlds!

Decided to dye my eyebrows, too! They use low ammonia dye so it wasn’t painful or stingy AT ALL.

Bleaching my tips!

A preview, after 4 hours…

The almost 4 hour wait was well worth it because I am sooooo loving my hair right now!

Tadah! My ombre hair! Vanity in the car, on the way home. Sorry for the sloppy face. No makeup.

The day after, washed and straight. Heading off to a wedding!

I’ve been getting compliments on how the colour suits me and my personality, so YAY, I’m a very, very, happy geek.

Thank you again Azta Urban Salon, ATC! Needless to say, I’ll be coming back for all my hair colouring needs!

Ombre Hair Colour services costs from Php1,400 ++ depending on your hair length and the product used 🙂

I really recommend Azta Urban Salon if you plan to get an ombre hair color because as far as I know (from months of research), they’re the only experienced salon in Manila who does Ombre Hair Colouring. You won’t go wrong!

  1. That is very nice! Do they really offer the two tone/double tome instead of the single tone? My hair is quite dark brown and a bit dry. Do you think they’ll allow it? How much does it take for your Ombre, I believe we have the same length of hair 🙂 Pls reply. Thanks

Hi Diane! Thanks for passing by my blog 🙂

Yup, they offer really offer two-tone ombre. I think it’s one of the specialties! 🙂

It took around 3 1/2 hours for me so be sure to keep half a day free!

As for the dryness, I think they’ll allow you, but they’ll make sure that you are aware it’ll make your hair really dry after the whole procedure. Think of it as a disclaimer.

You can try having a lycopene treatment which they also offer. I hear it’s good for chemically treated hair 🙂

  3. Didn’t your hair get damaged after the bleaching process? I also wanna dye my hair red but because my hair is rebonded, I’m afraid it might damage my hair once it’s bleached.. thanks!

Hi iannesy, no naman, it’s didn’t get damaged but it did get dry so I have to use conditioner regularly 🙂 Will also help if you get treatments every so often.

  5. Hi! I love the colors you choose! How much did it cost you?

Hi Erika, sorry for the late reply! 🙂 It’ll cost you a minimum of 2,000 to get an Ombre color. Price can go higher if you use L’Oreal branded hair colorants 🙂

Hi chorvanessence, thank you! 🙂 I would really love to have red hair all the time but it’s just a hard color to maintain. Fades really fast 😦 But I’m scheduled for a hair color soon and I’ll probably have stick to the same shades and an ombre style, too. Really makes your look more fun and interesting 🙂

  9. Hi Sis,

I would like to have my hair dyed ombre. Ask lang if pati ba ung pagcurl ng hair iba ung bayad from their package? Para kasing gusto ko magpacurl sa dulo ng buhok para magkavolume buhok ko kasi medyo manipis siya? MOreso, rebonded kasi buhok ko last Feb, possible ba na magundergo ako nito?

    Thanks!

  10. Got my hair done by them as well! Super nice staff. Very professional. Light handed too. The color looks good on you! Especially under lights 🙂
