My love for RPGs started waaaay back when I found this little game called “Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards” when I was around 7 years old. (I think.)

At that time, I didn’t know it was a BAD game, meaning it wasn’t for little girls. I always wondered why my brother kept that game from me. He’d hide the diskettes and would never play the game when I was around.
Because of that, I got more curious about the game it made me want to play it more.
One afternoon while he was in school, I snooped around, found the game and played it.
For those who do know the game, I’m sure you’re wondering how a little girl like me was able to get pass the Age Quiz. Seriously, I’m amazed at myself, too! At that time, there was no internet!
I really just relied on plain trial and error, haha.
(Or I’m really just a smart, little girl, haha)
So I played the game and realized it was an R-18 kind of game, haha! I got the shock of my life! No wonder my brother took good care to keep it a secret from me. I think it scarred me for life, haha!
(Thinking about it now, it was amazing how I was able to play through the game even for just a little bit without understanding the whole concept of the game, haha)
Eventually, I was able to play games that were more , uhm, age appropriate like…

(And that, my friend, is the story on how I came to love RPG…)
Aaaah, didn’t that make you feel nostalgic?!
Now if you’re a Mac user like me, here’s how you can play these games all over again!
Step 1: Download a DOS Game Emulator
I’m using Boxer.
While there are other emulators around, this is the easiest and least complicated to use. All you have to do is run Boxer.app, and then run your game.
Step 2: Download a ported game.
I’m not sure which particular game you’re looking for, but you can try searching for games at PortingTeam.com 🙂 From my research, they have the most games available! They even have Prince of Persia!
Step 3: Play and enjoy your game!
What are you waiting for? Search and download your favorite retro games now!
Which games were your favorite when you were little? 🙂
XOXO,
