#SouthEats: The Black Pig

If you’re from the south area of Metro Manila like Alabang or Paranaque, you know that a typical south hang out would be to buy your own booze at S&R and bring it over to a friend’s house for a relaxing drink at the comforts of a home.

But of course, there are days when you want a change of pace and you feel like hanging out in a bar or a club. Those are the times we’d head over to Makati or Fort.

But with the traffic nowadays, I’d rather just go somewhere closer to home.

There’s not a lot of posh places in the south where you can have a few drinks. Sure, there are a lot of bars along Aguirre Ave. in BF Paranaque, but none of them are like the posh bars in Makati or Fort.

So I’m very happy to find that a lot of these establishments, like Barcino and Bugsys, are opening down South.

Even Draft is opening at Molito by March, hurray! There’s no need for envy anymore for us, Southies, woohoo.

Now, Northies, if you’re down south, here’s a place you might to check out — The Black Pig.

The ambiance of the place is very nice. They also have an al fresco area if you prefer to hang out in the open air. The great thing about hanging out in the South is that you know the air is much cleaner! 😉

My friends and I didn’t get to try out the main dishes as we went here for dessert, a little bit of pica-pica and after-dinner drinks.

My poison for that night – Pink Lady
The Black Pig’s version of Cosmopolitan.
Not bad. You know they didn’t scrimp on the alcohol but it’s a tad bit too sweet for my taste.

Very yummy.

We also ordered The Black Pig Cheese Selection which I found a tad bit expensive as it only had a few slices of cheese on it. I even said that it was the saddest looking cheese platter I’ve ever seen as you can count the pieces of cheese with your two hands.

But admittedly, the cheese they served were of really good quality as they were flavorful and strong so you’d only need a small piece of each cheese to satisfy your palate.

I could say the same about their Jamon Iberico de Belota. Very expensive at P850 but the meat slices they served were of excellent quality.

I was happy to see that their alcohol drinks were very affordable, too.

A shot of Johnny Blackwas P160 and a shot of their Martini Rosso (my choice of poison) was around P100.

Their mixer, though, like the Sprite, was a bit pricier than most restaurants.

I’m definitely coming back to The Black Pig again soon! I want to try out the main dishes next time around.

For those looking for a place to go to on Valentine’s Day, you might want to try The Black Pig!
