First, let me apologize for the grainy, blurry photos.

I did not bring my camera because I wasn’t really planning on blogging about my Park Jun experience. But since I really, really LOVE how my hair turned out, Park Jun deserves a space in my blog!

I’ve been contemplating for the longest time what my next hairdo should be.

My last hair color was over a year ago, during my birthday to be exact. I sported a reddish-brown to orange-ish blonde ombre. It was fun while it lasted but it was a hard color to wear. I found that most of my clothes (my hot pink clothes, specifically) clashed with my hair. So did my favorite hot pink lippies. I had to wear more boring neutral colors like black and white and stuck to colors which are more complimentary to red and orange, and to begin with, I don’t really own a lot of.

(I discovered that I looked really good in peach tones, though, haha!)

So for more than a year, I couldn’t decide what to do with my hair. My hair grew longer and my roots started showing.

I would, of course, get an occasional trim every month or so to tame my hair and at least try to appear decently human. But every time I looked at myself in the mirror, I felt absolutely dull and uninteresting.

 I was utterly getting bored with my looks!

So one day, I just decided to go to the salon and finally get a makeover! Instead of going to my usual salon and stylist, I considered going to a new one. I felt like a needed a new set of eyes and a fresh perspective.

For almost a year, I tried sporting a one-length hairstyle and avoided my usual fringed look. I had this silly idea that I should look my age — adult-like and serious. Not cutesy, how I normally would.

I ended up, however, looking (and feeling) bland (in my opinion anyway).

So, one day, I just decided, “Screw it!” and decided to embrace my cutesy-cutesy look.

(Okay, let me be clear. I’m not saying I’m cute. I’m saying that the only fashion style I can carry are cutesy, girly looks. For some sad reason, I can never do preppy or sexy. I always looked weird in corporate attires.)

My friend was always raving about Park Jun’s Beauty Lab in Alabang Town Center and since I was looking to get a Korean/Japanese-ish hairstyle (the ultimate girly, cutesy look!), I knew they would be the perfect choice.

So I went to Park Jun in ATC.

I was very impressed with the place. It was huge, very clean and spacious. At 2PM on a Wednesday, I was the only one there! I totally loved it as I knew that the attention of the stylists would solely be on me and they won’t do a rush job.

I went to the reception and I told them I wanted a cut and color.

(They were very friendly!)

They then ushered me to a chair. I was introduced to my stylist and then I showed her my hairstyle choices. I wanted chunkier layers and those awesome fringes (full sideswept fringes) most Koreans and Japanese have.

For the hair color, I decided on a neutral, dark ash brown. It was a tamer hair color than what I would normally choose, but this time around, I wanted a color that would go with any outfit and any lipstick color.

Katie, my stylist, inspected my hair and said that I needed a treatment. However, I told her no treatment but to go ahead with just the color and cut. Unlike other salons where they do hard sell, she just nodded and reminded me that my hair might become (and is) really dry.

(Right then and there, I started loving Park Jun! I really hate it when salons become pushy with a treatment you don’t want. )

I said, “Yup, that’s fine.” and she gave my hair an initial cut. She then told Danielle, her assistant, to give me a “gentle shampoo” as I apparently have a sensitive scalp.

After the shampoo, they started coating my hair (sans the roots) with the dye. After that, they put me under this machine that emitted heat.

After 20 minutes or so, they started coating my roots and again, I had to wait for a few more minutes.

While waiting, they gave me complimentary food and drinks — yummy lemonade and a Korean biscuit.

They supposedly used ammonia-free dye on my hair but I still felt slight tingling on my scalp after a while. I couldn’t wait for them to rinse off the dye and a bit relieved when they said it was time for the rinse.

(So I guess I do have sensitive scalp after all, hehe!)

After a glorious rinse and scalp massage by Danielle (no, seriously, that was one of the best rinses I’ve ever had!), they started blow-drying my hair and Katie finalized my hair cut.

And voila! Hair done! 🙂

I started giggling and had a huge smile on my face when I saw my hair! I looked so Korean-ish/Japanese-y and I felt like I was wearing a wig! My hair was so fluffy!

I TOTALLY LOVED IT! 😉

Now here’s the million dollar question.

How much is a cut and color at Park Jun’s Beauty Lab?

Let me tell you point-blank. Park Jun is an expensive salon.

Be prepared to shell out P1,000 for a cut. My hair color costed around P3,000 plus.

All in all, my bill was P4,800.

Their treatments can cost as much as P3,000+.

I saw this particular poster in their store and I inquired how much to have the same hair the girl in the poster had.

They recommended this treatment called Volume Magic Wave for my hair and guess what, it will cost a whopping P11,000 for long hair.

(My eyes almost popped out of their sockets and I screamed, “Never mind!” in my head. )

But good news, though! They always offer discounts.

They have a regular early morning discount — Get any treatment or service done before 1PM and you automatically get 20% off your bill.

(P11,000 minus the 20% discount, P9,000 na lang! Hahaha! Right, in my dreams! I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I’ll ever convince myself to spend that much for a hair treatment!)

They also have a birthday discount as well. Same thing, get a treatment or service a week before or after your birthday and you get 20% off.

I say, those are pretty sweet deals, don’t you think? I’m definitely going back to Park Jun in the future!

And here’s my hair the day after. I really LOVE the chunky layers! Just the way I wanted. And the color! It’s just perfect! 🙂
