iPhone 6 Case Review: Urban Armor Gear

I received a new case for my iPhone 6  from Urban Armor Gear the other day and I’m a bit excited to share my review with you, geeks.

I heard about Urban Armor Gear in January this year when I saw this video about an iPhone 6 (in an Urban Armor Gear case, of course) being sent up 101,00 feet up in the air and then dropped.

I was really skeptical when I saw the video so when I had the opportunity to review the Urban Armor Gear case for iPhone 6, I really had to see this case for myself!

Urban Armor Gear for iPhone 6

Urban Armor Gear cases are known for its military drop-test standards, superior quality and craftsmanship.

Case without the iPhone 6. I decided to go with a transparent case this time around.

Because this particular model/color, Maverick, is transparent, it doesn’t have the whole of its insides covered with padding like the others. Instead, it has tiny circular paddings for shock-absorption in strategic points of the case.

Finally put my iPhone 6 in. Gotta love the fit, and it’s very easy to put on.

A closer look at the design and details.

The Oversized Button design is very impressive as it makes the buttons more responsive.

Perfect slots for the ports.

Shock absorbing bumpers all around.

And here’s something I haven’t seen before in other cases — raised edges even on the back panel so that your case won’t get scratched.

This has got to be one of the slimmest, rugged and shock-absorbing cases in the market right now.

I just have to say, I really regret not getting the pink one!

Comes in other colors, and a folio-type design.

The reason why I got the transparent color was because I was thinking of giving it away since I was pretty happy with my current case. But after using it for a day, I now want it for myself, haha!

The Good

  • Surprisingly affordable at $34.95 (roughly P1,600). Phone cases of this caliber are minimum $50, usually.
  • Very slim and very lightweight!
  • Easy to grip.
  • Very easy to put on and remove!
  • Comes with screen protector and cleaning cloth.

The Not-So-Good

  • Not easily available here in the Philippines. You’ll have to order online from the Urban Armor Gear website. Fortunately, they ship worldwide! Now available in all Digital Walker and Beyond the Box stores! Also available for online purchase at Lazada Philippines.
  • Not water-resistant so do not attempt to swim with this.
  • Needs more cutesy colors.
  • Very minor — not a big fan of the glossy back panel. I wish they had a matte version as it feels much nicer to touch.

The Bottomline

While I’m still not convinced that my iPhone 6 will survive a 101,000 feet drop with this case (and I’m honestly not willing to risk my personal phone, haha!), I’m pretty sure it’s going to be well-protected from the wear-tear-and-drops of daily living, and even those with the most rugged lifestyle.

For only $34.95, this case will give you the most bang for your buck. If you’re looking for a slim case that offers first-rate protection, this is it!

Hi Alan, I had the case shipped to a 3rd party courier (My-Shoppingbox.com) in the US, then they shipped it to Manila. Took around 2 weeks.
