POV: KiQ said ‘Pick your mobile plan, Queen’ and you did

Okay, so there’s a new mobile service in town and it’s a very interesting concept.

It’s called KiQ (yup, like “kick”), and it’s the first fully app-based telco brand in the Philippines. Basically, it lets you build your own plan from scratch. No need to deal with fixed promos or random bundles you don’t even use.

And yep, it’s from Smart, so it’s not some sketchy startup.

Everything happens in the app

Here’s how it works: you download the KiQ app, buy a ₱99 eSIM, and then use this neat little slider thing to set up your plan. You can:

  • Choose how much data you want
  • Decide if you want calls or texts
  • Set how long the plan lasts
  • Even pick your own number (yes, really but from what I’ve seen, you can’t exactly customize but instead you pick from a list of numbers)

So if you’re the type who only uses mobile data and never calls anyone (same), you won’t have to pay for stuff you won’t use.

eSIM but make it effortless

KiQ skips the usual QR code drama. Instead of waiting for a code in your email, you just tap a button and the eSIM installs directly from the app. Whole thing takes just a few minutes, and you’re good to go.

Better signal in crowded places?

Another cool feature: KiQ users get priority network access in high-traffic spots like malls, concerts, or schools. So in theory, your internet won’t lag when everyone else’s does. Still gotta test it during a real crowd, but sounds promising.

Who’s it for?

If you’re a student, freelancer, creative, gamer, or just someone who wants more control over your phone plan, this one’s worth checking out. It’s flexible, fast to set up, and doesn’t feel like a telco from 2009.

You can try it out now. Just download the KiQ app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, set things up in a few taps, and boom. Done.

Let me know if you give it a go. I kind of want to see if more people are into this build-your-own-plan idea.
